By reading this, God is making you aware of a free invitation to be in right relationship with Him. He knows all about your past and present faults, flaws, and mistakes. He refers to them as sin. Sin denotes missing the mark. Picture a target and you’re trying to hit the bullseye 100% of the time. There will be times you miss the mark. The bible lets us know that all have sinned and come short of God’s perfect standard. Sin can thrust us into guilt, shame, and behaviors we never thought we would take part in. Sin separates us from God, who is pure and holy. This sin can be described as a debt owed to God. This sin ultimately invites God’s wrath. Unfortunately, no amount of wealth, good works, or good relationships can pay off this debt to make us right before God. This sin is also described as a stain. No amount of soap or disinfectant is capable of removing this stain from our hearts. As a result, without help we will all experience God’s wrath. That’s the bad news.
With that said, how do you remove the debt and stain of sin that separates you from having a right relationship with God? How can you or anyone be saved from the wrath of God? The good news is that God, in His matchless love, provides the way. He sent Jesus, the Son of God, into the world as the way, the truth, and the life. God gave him as a gift to the world. Having always existed, Jesus humbled himself by setting aside the independent use of power and authority and came into this world as a baby through the virgin Mary. Jesus grew and experienced life a human like us. He was 100% God and 100% man. He only did the will of God the Father. He lived the life that we could not live – a sinless life. When the time was right, He gave his life freely on a cross as a perfect, unblemished sacrifice as payment for sin. He is called the Holy Lamb of God. Fortunately, his sacrificial death was acceptable to God. This is key because, as you know, all sacrifices or gifts are not acceptable to the receiver. Perhaps someone has given you an item that you didn’t like and considered unacceptable? We know Jesus’ death on the cross was acceptable because God raised Jesus from the dead and gave him a place of honor at his right hand and allowed him to be seated. Jesus taking a seat, signified that his work was finished. In ancient times, a servant could not take his seat until his work was complete. Jesus has all power and authority in heaven and earth.
Today, will you trust in what Jesus had done as payment for your sin? With God’s help, will you turn away from your sin?
Romans 10:9-10 states, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved”.
Place your faith in Jesus by asking him to come into your life and forgive you of your sin. Profess with your mouth that you would like him to be Lord of your life, turn away from your sin, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead. That’s right, we serve a living God. He’s not dead! If you have sincerely made this profession and belief, by the authority of God’s word, you have willingly surrendered your life to Jesus. He is now the Lord of your life.
